RHWU is a trade union representing skilled health workers in the health sector in Rwanda . RHWU is affiliated to the CESTRAR . RHWU derived from SPS a french abbreviation namely SYNDICAT DU PERSONNEL DE SANTE ( SPS ) . SPS was created in 1992 and was working under the umbrella of the Center of Trade Union Workers in Rwanda which is the mother Trade Union .
SPS started to be operational after the genocide against the titsi in 1994 in Rwanda whereby SPS lost so many comrades and after that , SPS started the operation on fresh , but it was a tough work to perform and different reforms were terminating a very big number of health workers at several hospitals in Rwanda . These reforms were imposed by the World Bank . The Rwanda Health Workes Union itself affiliated to CESTRAR at Rwanda National Level , and Internationally toPublic Service International ( PSI ) .

MISSION
The mission of the Rwanda Health Workers Union is to ensure high quality services by employees education , advocacy , strengthening of national workers class solidarity and strive for the gender based quality both in private and public sectors , and works in partnership with stakeholders that are committed to improve occupational health and safe environment of workers .
